Myths Around Sexual Assault
Join us April 16th from 11am-12pm Facebook Live for a Community Conversation Myths Around Sexual Assault with our very own SAT Coordinator Lily Isham!
 
This Facebook Live will focus on debunking common myths surrounding sexual assault, featuring valuable insights from a detective, forensic nurse, and survivor. Together, they will provide a well-rounded perspective on the realities of sexual assault, addressing misconceptions and sharing their expertise to help educate and empower the community.
 
Panelists: Detective Caleb Ray with The Colony PD, Community Coordinator, Kimberly Smith with TXFNE, and Nina Allen Survivor and member of VOICES.
 
Sole Survivor
In honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month we will be hosting multiple events, one being Sole Survivor! This is a free community awareness event where the shoes represent the victims and survivors of sexual assault. Join us for Sole Survivor Wednesday April 23rd at the Denton Courthouse on the Square from 5:30-7 PM and help us make an impact!
 

Gather shoes you would like to donate and bring them to the Courthouse on the Square! The event will include lining the walk-way with shoes representative of victims and survivors who have been impacted by sexual assault.

Afterwards, the shoes will be donated to clients and available for purchase from the Upscale Resale Thrift Store. All net proceeds from thrift store sales support the day-to-day FREE services provided to our clients.

Denim Day at Eastside

In honor of National Denim Day Denton County Friends of the Family partnered with Eastside to bring awareness to sexual violence this April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Come watch Legally Blonde (7-8:30 PM) and enjoy pizza from The Tomato Wednesday April 30th 6-9 PM.

 

Make a fashion statement in your Canadian tuxedo for a Denim Day contest at the end of the movie! The Tomato food truck will be provide a 20% *coupons for anyone that donates $20 or more to DCFOF for SAAM.

Explorium Denton Children’s Museum Touch-A-Truck is a community wide event which involves public and private entities offering a unique opportunity to people all over Denton County, allowing children of all ages to explore vehicles of all types. At Touch-A-Truck, families can see, touch, and climb aboard their favorite large vehicles! Explore emergency vehicles, big rigs, trucks, and tractors while interacting with the everyday heroes who operate them. Vendors will provide additional children activities, we will have food trucks too!
