Adult Counseling

Our Internship offers the student an opportunity to work with trauma survivors and/or abusers within a warm, supportive, and flexible environment. We offer the student the opportunity to tailor their internship experience to meet their own interests and gain diversity in experience.

ADVANCE

ADVANCE is an 8-week psycho-educational group, created for CPS-involved victim parents, to address issues related to domestic violence and parenting. Interns will support facilitator in groups, document client attendance and participation, contact referred clients, and maintain client records and appropriate documentation of services.

BIPP Advocate

BIPP Partner Advocate will contact and advocate for the victim partner, determine appropriate services for the victim partner, complete referrals for victim partners, document and report the outcomes of partner safety calls, and attend group sessions to gain a thorough understanding of BIPP.

BIPP Facilitator

Battering Intervention and Prevention Program (BIPP) Intern will provide group facilitation for perpetrators of intimate partner violence, attend all individual and group supervision, conduct weekly orientation/intake session, maintain client files and records, maintain agency statistics, database entries and case notes.

Camp Hope

Crisis Line

The crisis line or CIS intern will assist in screening potential clients into shelter, coordinate their entrance into shelter, complete shelter intakes with new residents, attend to any immediate needs, safety planning, emotional support to callers and any residents in crisis, as well as assist with House meetings for residents.

Legal Services

DCFOF’s Legal Services Department is looking for a dynamic, motivated, and self-starting

individual to be our Legal Services Intern and support our High Risk Advocate staff. This Intern

would be interested in learning more about advanced responses to assist people who have

experienced Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence.

Marketing & Development

Work directly with the Marketing and Development team, assist with volunteer and in-kind donation databases, assist in the planning and implementation of special events, fundraising and donor calls, social media, and thank you notes.

Non-profit Operations

Works directly with the Operation Director to manage all internal operations, including accounting and bookkeeping, payroll and benefits, human resources, internal technology development, managing internal files and assist with tasks related to grant writing and filing.

Outreach Advocacy

Focuses on assessing the safety of clients, connect clients to appropriate and available resources, provide civil/criminal court accompaniment, complete victim intakes, and assist with Survivor Advocacy Team.

Play Therapy

Our Internship offers the student an opportunity to work with trauma survivors and/or abusers within a warm, supportive, and flexible environment. We offer the student the opportunity to tailor their internship experience to meet their own interests and gain diversity in experience.

Shelter Advocacy

Shelter Advocate Interns will advocate on client’s behalf, attend court proceedings with clients, assisting with answering the crisis line, and completing shelter intakes.

Survivors Advocacy Team

The Survivor Advocacy Team (SAT) Intern will be on-call, complete intakes, help recruit more SAT volunteers, develop and present educational/training programs on domestic violence and sexual assault, assist SAT Coordinator, attend supervision and department meetings, maintain relationships with community agencies, and assist with the planning of two awareness month campaigns.

Transitional Housing

Transitional Housing (TH) interns will focus on assessing the safety of clients, helping address housing needs, connect clients to appropriate and available resources, and provide civil/criminal court accompaniment. TH interns have the opportunity to also assist with the Survivor Advocacy Team, our agency’s hospital response team.
