Before healing, before rebuilding, and before a family can begin planning for what comes next, there has to be safety.
That is the purpose of Phase 1 of the Denton County Family Justice Center and the first destination on Expedition Hope.
Phase 1 begins with the infrastructure now being built across the site and continues with construction of a new emergency shelter and survivor service spaces designed around what families need when they first seek help.
The expanded emergency shelter will provide a safe, secure place for survivors and their children to stay while they determine their next steps. A dedicated kitchen and dining area will provide more than meals. It will create space for nourishment, normalcy, and community during an extraordinarily difficult time.
Phase 1 will also bring survivor services together on-site, making it easier for families to connect with advocacy, counseling, legal assistance, and other support without navigating multiple locations and systems.
The Rayzor Empowerment Center will add another critical piece: financial safety. Career and employment support will help survivors build skills, increase income, and create greater financial stability as they work toward independence.
Together, these spaces are designed to do more than respond to a crisis. They create a safe starting point from which survivors and their children can begin moving forward.
With 72% of Phase 1 funded, we are closer than ever.
Safety isn’t the finish line. It’s where the journey begins.
